He finds Billie sore at him and a policeman who wants to take him to the police station. Jay escapes and after a lively chase enters the Brown's home again. The tramp, too, returns - is recognized by Jay, who explains to Billie.
- Jimmie, the Messenger Boy, is in love. He tells the other messengers that he is going to see his girl. But he lacks the price of a box of candy, so contrives to steal it. He surprises the girl with the candy and she surprises him with a big dog. The dog, playful, chases Jimmie several blocks and finally trees him, tearing his pants. The girl calls the dog off but accuses Jimmie of mistreating her pet. Quite conscious of the conditions of his pants, Jimmie tries to hide the rip. Several girls giggle. Back at the messenger office a woman phones the manager for "the most reliable messenger." The boss sends Jimmie, torn pants and all. The woman has a dog for Jimmie to deliver on another street. They start out; the dog leads Jimmie a merry chase, almost gets in a fight with his girl's dog, and finally walks into a dog show where she is awarded the blue ribbon. Complications follow but Jimmie finally manages to sooth things over; he gives the blue ribbon to "the best in the burg" - his girl, and all ends well.

They proceed to celebrate and go to a beer garden, but the uncle goes there, too, and overhears a conversation that is not very complimentary to him. He gets an idea and goes to a lawyer and makes his will. He dies a short time after and Tony pays his last cent for funeral expenses. Then they go to the lawyer's for their legacy and find that the fortune is nothing but the dog.

She (Mrs. Shultz) filled the air with riot and requested the judge to rivet a pair of handcuffs upon runaway Adolph and bring him back. At Kirby's farm there was great excitement. The Baron Dietrich had picked Madge Kirby for a steady listener of his love tales and Madge was delighted. A baron for a son-in-law made ma's heart flutter overtime. Farmer Kirby had no intention of splitting his fortune with a man he couldn't talk with, so every time the baron asked for Madge's hand Farmer Kirby got an attack of hesitation and called Peggy, the bulldog, who showed her disapproval of the baron by making half-moons with her teeth on different parts of his anatomy. In fact, Peggy assisted Farmer Kirby and Jack Hopkins, Madge's former suitor, in making the baron as uncomfortable as possible, but his finish was made certain by the arrival of Mary Alden, the reporter, who came to visit the Kirbys. Assisted by Peggy, she prevented the pair from eloping, and to confirm her suspicion that Shultz was one and the same, she telegraphed for Mrs. Shultz. Five minutes after the lady arrived something that sounded like yells of mortal agony came from the tall grass back of the farm to prove that the lady was making good. So endeth the romance of Adolph.

Hopkins enlists Mary's help; Mary is the waitress and quite obliging. Mrs. Hashcr, however, with her poodle, "Tootsie," is omnipresent and Hopkins' plans for a feed fail. That aching void sharpens the man's wits, and in a jiffy "Tootsie" vanishes. Mrs. Hasher is inconsolable. Hopkins inserts an ad in the local paper, and next day the missing dog is found. Mrs. Hasher gladly pays a reward of twenty-five dollars to Hopkins' envoy. Hopkins returns to the boarding house, settles his bill, pays two weeks in advance and is installed as the star boarder.
- There was something that made London's East End special for dog racing. There used to be loads of tracks in the area. The Stow, Walthamstow Dogs, was the last but the 75 year old stadium was the best in the world, with a huge fan base. There are several groups on Facebook devoted to it and one has more than 10,000 members. Dog racing seemed as traditional as jellied eels, warm beer, flat caps or fish and chips. The Stow Was a lot more than that and even had its own nightclub, Charlie Chans. So it was a huge shock when the Chandler family, who owned and ran it for the entire 75 years it operated, announced that The Stow is closed. .

Billy hates dogs because they usually make a meal of the seat of his trousers; so whenever opportunity offered, Billy used to poison the old Doctor's dog. Whenever the Doctor found Billy around, making love to his daughter, the Doctor went after him with a shotgun. After Billy had poisoned his last dog, the nearsighted Doctor advertises for a live one to replace the dead one. Two tramps, anxious to make some coin, read the ad and immediately concoct a scheme. They steal a dog-skin from a costumer and impose upon Dr. Nearsighted. In the meanwhile, Billy gets busy and poisons the food and water for the new dog. He goes to the kennel and there meets his sweetheart and tells her that he has poisoned the dog's water. The fraud, masquerading in a dog's skin, having licked up the supposedly poisoned water, overhears the conversation and supposing that he has been poisoned, almost gets a fit from fright. This complicates the situation and makes the finish ludicrous.
